COACHING

Cashmere Tennis Club offers a high-quality coaching programme organised by Matt and James Meredith from the Meredith Brothers Tennis Academy. Matt is our Coaching Director and former Tennis Canterbury Head Regional Coach. He was responsible for the development of Canterbury’s top junior players. James Meredith, our Head Coach at Cashmere Tennis Club, is responsible for the on-court delivery of our coaching programmes. James is a 5x time Canterbury Player of the Year. While assisting both Matt and James is a fully qualified coaching team. For all private lessons (junior and senior), holiday programmes, and extra group tuition, please visit http://www.meredithbrothers.co.nz/

Each group receives an hour of club coaching per week. To ensure our players get maximum coaching time we ask that parents refrain from going on court during coaching sessions. It is a distraction for coaches and players. If you need to discuss/arrange anything with Matt or the other coaches please contact them at the end of the session. Matt can be reached at admin@meredithbrothers.co.nz or 0272215925.

CANCELLATIONS

If it is raining for your coaching time please check our Facebook page @cashmeretennisclub, an email will also go out to all registered juniors.

FREE COACHING ON REGISTRATION DAYS

All children are welcome to join our three free days of tennis coaching and register for the upcoming season. Club members and coaches will be on hand to meet both players and parents, assist with online registrations and answer any further questions.

HOT SHOTS INFORMATION

Tennis Hot Shots is the national starter tennis programme for New Zealand children. Tennis Hot Shots is just for kids. Smaller courts, shorter racquets and softer balls mean that kids can play a proper game of tennis from the moment they step on court.

The Red Stage (Age: 4-6)
The red ball is larger than a yellow ball and doesn’t bounce as high (just 25% compression), making it a breeze for even the youngest players to hit comfortably. The courts and nets used in the Red stage are much smaller making it easier for kids to move around and enjoy success. Red level players may be beginners, improvers or even advanced players.

Court Size: 3m x 8.23 or 6m x 10.97m.
Tennis Ball: Red Ball (25% compression).
Recommended Racquet Size: 21-23 inches.

The Orange Stage (Age: 6-8)
After mastering the Red stage, children move on to the Orange stage where the ball bounces a little higher (50% compression) and the court is a bit bigger. Orange players play over the regular net on a three quarter length court.

Court Size: 6.4m x 18.29m.
Tennis Ball: Orange Ball (50% compression).
Recommended Racquet Size: 23-25 inches.

The Green Stage (Age: 9+)
The ball used in the Green stage has a higher compression than the Red and Orange stages (75% of a yellow tennis ball) and children play on a full-size court. Green players may be older children who are new to tennis or players of a good standard who have progressed through the Red and Orange stages.

Court Size: 10.97m x 23.78m (Full Court).
Tennis Ball: Green Ball (75% compression).
Recommended Racquet Size: 25-27 inches.

We wish you a very enjoyable coaching season.
