Cashmere Tennis Club Updates March 10

Saturday 8 May we will celebrate the end of the summer season with a shared club dinner. We will use this occasion in particular, to acknowledge our junior and senior club champions and our successful interclub teams.

Interclub

Our men’s premier team is playing in the final at Wilding Park this Saturday from 1pm. They have an extraordinary record having competed in the finals for 19 out of 20 seasons.
I understand their opposition Country Ashburton is taking a bus load !! Members are very welcome to go and support them we need tocompete with this bus load !

I would like to acknowledge the long serving Johnny and Tim McHarg and Matt, James and Tim Meredith. You continue to be stars for the club. It is also wonderful to see young blood coming through – Liam and Nant. Good luck guys. Speedy recovery Harry from your injury.

Well done to Division 1 ladies, Division 3 men and the Division 2 mixed team who each won their grades. Go the Division 5 men who are still in the running to win.

CoachingThe committee is offering 2 free coaching sessions for senior members : 12.30 – 1.30pm on Saturday 8 May and 15 May.

MidweekA plug please for members ( and friends ) to support the Tuesday midweek group 10.30am -noonish. The more attending the greater the options !

Junior Results
Well done to Liam Barrett and Ruby Young who had great results at the recent Secondary Schools Tennis Champs. Ruby was first in the Year 11 girls and Liam 2nd in the year 11 boys. Both these players represent Cashmere in the premier division.

A huge thank you to this special club member Kathy Dwyer. Kathy has retired from her secretary position for the club and her organisation of our show weekend tournament. She is a wonderful asset to our club.We are looking for new members to run the seniors’ tournament – any volunteers ?

Celebration of our 100 years.Although this seems some time away ( 2024 ) we wish to begin planning for what we hope will be a special event for the club.
Inaugural meeting Monday 21 March 7pm in the clubrooms.
